Pirate Day, the Glorious Return & Upcoming Events
According to my esteemed friend Mr. J. A. Lusk, today is non other than National (or maybe International) Pirate Day. I'm not sure exactly what this entails but I recommend sizable usage of the phrase "YARRRR" as well as "WONDROUS BOOTY!!!" throughout your daily work dialogue. I would also assume heavy consumption of rum is similarly well advised for this particular holiday.
Speaking of incoherent delirium, I'm back from the road trip. 23 days and 8600 miles in a Honda Civic. All of my muscles have atrophied. I took a fair amount of pictures (1,876 to be exact) and ate more fast food in those three weeks than I've eaten in the last year. Glorious.
Some of the more notable events were: camping at Disney World, nearly driving off a bridge in Mississippi, some sort of police highway shootout/chase in Houston, the Parisian cowboy-hat retailer and massive steak in San Antonio, a mountainous thrill ride of death in New Mexico, 24 hour non-stop burner to the Grand Canyon, nearly running out of gas in the Mojave Desert, LA Smogfest 2006, the General Sherman, a hitchhiking sibling in Oregon, roaming buffalo in Yellowstone, being bad in the Badlands, running out of gas in South Dakota, pizza and jazz in Chicago, seeing only 1/3 of the Sears Tower because of the low cloud cover, touring Paradis' LT tour de force for the second time, and winning 8 cents at Ceasar's Indiana.
I was going to post some pictures from the trip but I have come to realize that blogger is lame. Especially for pictures. Thus I feel I may have to break down and start a Flickr site to host my boring and out of focus photos. Some of my contemporaries have had nice bodies of work posted Flickr for quite some time. Now is probably a great time to destroy that credibility. And since I've already sold out and started a "blog," I might as well go ahead and take the full plunge into douchedom... as if I wasn't already there...
Moving on... the last couple days have been spent cleaning up Tanisha (the car we took on our trip), visiting friends, watching football and drinking way too much whiskey in Chapel Hill, and returning from Charlotte with the Great Red Boat that is (at least for my remaining three weeks in NC) my car.
Upcoming Events: less than 1 month until my permanent move back to NY, and hopefully the glorious return of Irrational Exuberance! as it was meant to be... a meaningless and trite commentary on random events in order to kill time while at work in Manhattan.
In the meantime, I've got 2.5 more hellish weeks in CPA prep for the final (and dreaded) segment: Audit. Then I fly up to NY on the 5th for some apartment hunting, return on the 10th and commence the final move on the 13th. With good preparation and a sprinkle of luck I should be eating Grimaldi's pizza by 7 pm on the 14th.
