Boycott recycling... it kills

This is precisely why I don't believe in recycling. Yet another troubling incident where innocent lives were claimed in the haphazard pursuit of "conservation."

It's not that I don't believe the idea of recycling has merit, far from it. It's that the technology is too new, too unpredictable, and too dangerous. Is saving a few bottles and cans worth the risk of diving into technology we don't fully understand? Absolutely not.

Incidents like this and Chernobyl are why nuclear power and recycling should be banned until the technology can be advanced to a level that provides safe operational controls for those working in this sector whose lives hang in the balance.

I for one will continue to boycott recycling until the government takes appropriate action in correcting these safety issues and I urge you dear reader(s) to do the same.

Mike's Paper Emporium!

I'm back in the office at the WFC in New York and as luck would have it, my timing was again terrible. I walked right into the middle of a deliverable so after my two days of "orientation" I have worked 13 hr days back to back and it looks like another long one tonight.

I have such a surplus of binders/folders/piles of papers in and around my desk that I've decided to open up a useless paperwork emporium. Are you in a sudden need of several stacks of documents?

Then I'm your guy. Come on down to Mike's Paper Emporium... for all your... umm... fire hazard needs.

Next week should be slower though... i.e. plenty of time to comment on random stuff from CNN or the BBC. Bingo. Oh yeah, that trip we took to Vegas back in the spring... we flew AirTran because of this Wendy's cup promotion where you could redeem 32 of these special cups for a free airline ticket. That particular promotion cost AirTran something like $1.4 million in losses and contributed around 30% of the total losses for the quarter.

Paradis was so proud.

Flickr

So I'm officially done with the CPA (assuming I passed part four) and I'm moving up to New York to resume my life from last summer in a matter of days. Exciting.

In the meantime I managed to sign up for a Flickr account. So from now on all of my pictures will be hosted there, and I can get back to using this blog for what it was meant for: time killer. As I get some free time in the next couple weeks I'll post some picture sets from 2005 but that's as far back as I'm going.

Right now there are pictures of Vegas, Maui, and the Road Trip. Enjoy dear reader(s).
